Maritime Security Awareness Training

Maritime Institute's Maritime Vessel Security Awareness course covers the basic principles of vessel security awareness and the mariner’s role in the prevention of security incidents on board your vessel.

This course provides knowledge of security-related provisions, how to recognize and detect security threats, techniques to apply security measures.


Assistance Towing Endorsement

The Online Assistance Towing Endorsement course is a USCG Approved Course, this means you can test with us at the conclusion of the course instead of having to test with the U.S. Coast Guard at a Regional Exam Center.

As with all of our online courses this is done at your own pace, however, you have up to 4 weeks to complete the course.

This endorsement is required if you will be engaged in towing a disabled vessel for payment.

Auxiliary Sailing Endorsement

This Four (4) hour U. S. Coast Guard approved course meets the written examination requirement for a candidate holding a USCG Master or Mate license to obtain a Sailing or Auxiliary Sailing Endorsement.

This endorsement is required if you plan on operating an Inspected Sailing Vessel. It is not required if you plan on operating an Uninspected Sailing Vessel with passengers for hire.

Catalina Island Limited Master Course

Our Catalina Island Limited Master License Course satisfies the testing requirements to obtain a Limited Master License required for working at Catalina Camps.

This license is only available to students who will be working at Catalina Camps and requires a letter from your employer to apply for the credential.

Master 100 TN to Master/Mate 200 TN Near Coastal Upgrade Course

The Upgrade Master 100 Tons to Master/Mate 200 Tons Course will satisfy the examination requirements for upgrade of your MMC from Master 100 gross tons to Master or Mate of not more than 200 gross tons Great Lakes, Inland, or Near Coastal.

Mission Bay Limited Master Course

TRLMI's Mission Bay Limited Master Course stratifies the testing requirements to obtain a Limited Master License required for working at Mission Bay Camps.

This license is only available to students who will be working at Mission Bay Camps and requires a letter from your employer to obtain the credential.

OUPV/Master Upgrade Course (Old)

This twenty-four (24) hour USCG Approved Online (distance learning) course will satisfy all the examinations for upgrade of a merchant mariner credential from OUPV Near Coastal or Great Lakes & Inland or Inland Waters TO a credential of Master or Mate of not more than 100 gross tons upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland or Inland Waters ;

OR increase the scope of a credential of Master or Mate of not more than 100 gross tons upon Great Lakes & Inland or Inland Waters TO Master or Mate of not more than 100 gross tons upon Near Coastal Waters.

Rules of the Road Online

This sixteen online hour course teaches the International Navigation Rules and Regulations for preventing collisions at sea and the Inland Navigation Rules; also known as the Rules of the Road; or the Navigation Rules.

A “must do” essential starter course for unlicensed captains new to recreational boating, yachting or fishing.

Upper Tonnage License Preparation Course

The Master / Mate 500 to 1600 Ton and 3rd Mate Upgrade course is designed as an Examination Preparation course for a student that will be required to take the Master or Mate license examinations at the USCG.

The courses include preparation for Rules of the Road, Deck Safety, Deck General, Navigation General, Terrestrial and Coastal Navigation examinations.

Radar Oberserver Unlimited - Basic Theory

This course is designed to train deck officers and those seeking a license in the proper use of radar for risk assessment, collision avoidance and navigation as required by Table A-II/1 of the Standards for Training and Certification of Watchkeepers (STCW) Code as amended. 

Various exercises will be initiated to provide the student with the knowledge required to properly use the radar and to recognize potential threats and determine proper action to avoid these threats utilizing the applicable Rules of the Road.
